Dear all,

Are you free Sat 15 - 22 July 2023 and interested in attending RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)?

Sadly due to injury, one of the Rotarians planning to attend can no longer make it, so we're looking for another volunteer!

It's a really fun and rewarding week in North Wales, and to see how the candidates change in such a short amount of time is just fantastic. Below is a document that describes the role of the Rotarians during the week to give you an idea of what to expect.

You would only need to pay the RIBI insurance cost of £20; travel, food and accommodation is all paid for.

If you're available for 15-22 July 2023, either in the full week or possibly a part of it, please contact Sarah Shears District RYLA Organiser on the details below. Also get in touch if you're interested for future years.

Kind regards
Sarah

ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD
District 1090
Rotarians roles and responsibilities
  1. To offer pastoral and welfare support to candidates if required;
  2. Offer limited guidance or mentorship and not to interfere with the candidates’ activities too much: candidates will be led by professional staff at the centre and need to be able to make their own mistakes to learn from, unless they’re in a dangerous situation;
  3. Assist in the event of an emergency, under professional guidance from RYG Outdoor Education Centre - this may include handling the candidate data whilst in attendance;
  4. Taking part in activities is at your discretion and your own risk, providing you have completed the appropriate medical form and are covered by RGBI Insurance;
  5. Encourage candidates adhere to the rules of the centre e.g. smoking only in permitted areas, no alcohol, no mixing in dorms overnight, no mobile phones when advised, or anything else the centre specifies. This will also include any Covid-19 related procedures as advised by the centre and the risk assessment.
  6. Assist with candidates on the coach journey as necessary, including at the services when stopping for a break;
  7. Assist hosting the District Governor or other visiting Rotarians;
  8. Optionally take photos or videos of candidates and activities for candidates to use later in their presentations to Clubs and for Rotary publicity materials.
