Reading Santa Run 2022
Six hundred hardy souls braved the misty Sunday morning of December 9 with temperatures below zero to take part in The Rotary Club of Reading’s 9th Santa Run.
The venue was new – no longer through the streets of the town centre - but on the magnificent campus of the University of Reading.
A dinosaur waits patiently to get its entry number

Rotarians Eydis Björndottir and Vicky Metcalfe discuss the finer points of organising the event

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Elizabeth McCrum started both races and pronounced herself very happy with the event. She wants to come again next year! (Hope it’s not as cold.)

Thanks to the participants and to so many Rotarians (some from other local clubs), members’ partners and other friends for organising a successful event at a new and different venue without the professional help that we have previously enjoyed. It will be a while before we know how much money the Santa Run raised but it will certainly be significant.

A huge thank you to the University for their splendid co-operation and especially to Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Elizabeth McCrum,  who cheerfully endured a very cold morning to start the races—and then volunteered to come back next year!

A good few of the Club’s members deserve praise and thanks but especially:  Eydis Björndottir, Tim Metcalfe and Vicky Metcalfe.
